Downloading and installing the Macintosh Client Software for the VZones

Before using VZones you will need TCP/IP via MacTCP or Open Transport. Access to the Internet at 9600 baud or more and an Internet email address. You must also have one of the supported Web Browsers installed on your system.

CPU Minimum Requirements:
Required: Power PC, G3, G4.

System Software:
Recommended: System Software: Mac OS 8 or higher.

RAM:
Recommended: 8 Megabytes.
If you are running VZClient on a Macintosh with less that 12 M of real RAM we recommend that you turn on virtual memory in the Memory Control Panel. Apple recommends setting Virtual Memory to a size no greater than 150% of the physical RAM in your computer. 9 MB RAM + 12 MB VM = 20 MB total.

Hard Drive:
Recommended: 18 MB free.
Less than 18 MB of Hard Drive space is required to download the VZClient Installer and install the VZones software. This requirement only covers the space needed for the VZones application software and inital data files. Each world that you visit will download custom resources that will take additional hard drive space. To temporarily recover hard drive space, you may delete files from the "WS Resources" folder in your "VZones" installation folder. When you next visit a world the deleted resources for that world will be downloaded again, and the "WS Resources" folder will grow.

Downloading:
1. Click the icon to download the installer.
2. Save to your desktop so you can find the file later.
 
Installation:1. Move your web browser out of the way so that you can see your desktop.2. Find the downloaded installation file on your desktop. Double click it to begin installation.

The VZones download has been reduced in size to shorten your download time and to speed your access to the world. When entering the world for the first time, you may encounter gray "objects" or "areas." Colorful artwork is downloading in the background. This will occur only the first time you encounter new art. You may fully access the world (walk, talk, communicate) while the art is being updated.
