A few of us were sharing how we got our Avi name/s and I thought it might be nice if we all share.. Ok.. PetMePlease came from my 1st online name on AOL, when I used to hang in a chatroom called Cat Chat .. My cats used to look at me with that Come on *Pet Me!! Please* look and the name was born.. Petallypoo was born when I was totally engrossed online ( in VZones by now ) and my hubby *Maverick* couldn't get my attention LOL So he called *Pet*allypoo.. and the bell went off.. I open another acct in VZones and SHE was born <3 Come on Share ur story about how Ur name came about

Cool topic, always like to hear the stories behind a name

Thali is short for Thalionmel, which was my very first IW name. An ex played Ultima Online and I kept watching over his shoulder. A friend of his played a female character named Thalionmel and was funny as heck. We later all met in RW at a Computer Games Con and the RW Thalionmel was just as funny. So when I needed a name here I 'stole' Thalionmel to keep the memory ... With time I shortened it to Thali.

My other avatar Sha'uri (which still hangs in the 2013 backup somewhere) was named after the female character from the Stargate movie (in the series she was Sha'ree)

[Lola Showgirl]

Lola was in nh because I like Barry Manalowe ...and that song is a toe tapper...then when we were invited to Ds...I met many friends so Lola Showgirl was created...same Bunni....cause its all about the Bunni....and in fillipino Lola means grandma...so in real life my grandchildren call me Lola.....

I started out with a very boring name and a very boring avatar. I was playing around in DS one day while my boyfriend was watching. He was making fun of me since my avatar was nothing like me. We then had a little makeover. I became Slymenstra. She was an amazing "character" in a band in the 90's called GWAR. I saw them a billion times live and Slymenstra was always amazing. I eventually shortened it to Sly. The name has stuck since 1996!

When I was a kid my father always called me a spook (spookje, spookie) because I "ghosted" through the house yelling booo boooo.

[Squirlly]

Mine is my RW Clown name, yes this clown is a real clown! Now How did the clown get HIS name?

As a youngin' serving in the United States Navy was a Data Processing Technician assigned to the "Bat Cave" one of the few rooms in the building with no windows. Well I am not the kind of person who can sit still very long so every so often I would get to a good stopping/saving point in my code and the saving process would take a few minuets so instead of just sitting there watching the computer save I would get up and take a few laps around the office. One day our division Chief was in chatting with my lead petty officer during one of these lap sessions and he said I looked like a caged squirrel, and it STUCK like glue. From that point forward I don't think a single person ever called me by my real name I was Seaman Squirrel.

Once I was discharged from the Navy I met a man who taught me the ins and outs of being a clown... well what I hadn't already learned serving in the Navy... Anyway very early in my training he asked me what name I wanted to use. The only thing that came to my mind was Seaman Squrrel but that didn't quite work so I thought of Squirrelly (See I can spell it RIGHT) but that's an adjective not a name so wanting to be a little more unique I changed the spelling to Squirlly, that was 1993 and most of the world has known me by Squirlly ever since.

Buddy and I were just talking about this too!

My real name is Heidi. In the late 90's at work I would listen to television with headphones. So I'd listed to the soaps or the talk shows. There was a little girl on one of them and her name was Heidia. MY close friend started calling me Heidia then others started (some still call me that 20 years later!)

When WRIF invaded Dreamscape, I shortened it to Dia and have been Dia inworlds ever since.

When I met my RW husband he was and is a professional clown by the name of Squirlly. I decided to become a clown as well and since my name is Catherine and I like cats I decided to be Kitti the Clown, When we joined DS I tried to use the name Kitti however, it was already in use so I had to come up with something else. Since I had also was considering specialized license plates Kitti was taken there as well but K1TT1 was not so I changed the i's to 1's and became K1tt1.
