In all fairness, those game slots were open all morning, and any host would have been free to add a normal Slingo if they were able to. I think a VIP Slingo isn’t really intended to “exclude” anyone, but rather is just another small perk for those that are paying extra to have VIP.

Well it does exclude us, and it makes me reconsider being a member quite frankly, Andy could have just done Slingo for everyone. Perks are special items, not a general game.

I was trying to get my friend to join up for a normal account but I won’t be continuing to recommend joining if this is the new normal.

Sure, he could have just done Slingo for everyone, but he is also the only one to host these VIP activities like paint club and the occasional VIP Slingo, which is also only like once a month or so it seems.. Being a standard member myself, I really don’t see it as a big deal, and nothing is really being taken away from us as members when something like this occurs, as I am sure someone could host a normal Slingo game during that slot at the same time for those not on VIP.. VIP members are paying more money a month for added benefits, and if being able to play and do absolutely everything on the calendar is what you want, join VIP. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s one of the reason I pay for a VIP account. You have the same option.

Well that’s how you two feel, I could pay less for a WOW account where I can game whenever. Honestly there is little to do in worlds when a game is not on and no members should be excluded from them, most people are here from nostalgia not because it provides the best entertainment for the cost, and isolating a segment of them is not a good look. I’m certainly not paying more for a an account to have access to something that was free for everyone. I’ve already said I don’t have an issue with the items etc with paint club. You do not remove access from people after the fact which is what this is doing.

My replies suddenly vanished…I said I could spend less on a WOW account that always has something to do on it, and with this happening it’s now something I’m considering. Vzones offers very little to do when a game is not on, games were never a part of the VIP divide when I signed up and this is removing something that previously my level of membership had access too. Most members are here from nostalgia and could spend their money elsewhere and it’s not a great idea to isolate them like this. I already said I have no issue with the special items etc with paint club but this is leaving members nothing to do on purpose to push them into buying a V.I.P account and I will be leaving before I spend more money here.

Your comments are still here, nothing has vanished.. So what you’re saying is that people on VIP should not have access to extra benefits even though they pay extra for that very thing? Or are you saying that as a standard member you should have access to the one VIP Slingo game that happens MAYBE once a month? It does state that VIP members have exclusive access to things, which can be more than just items from paint club.. I feel like this is being wildly blown out of proportion, and these comments and this overall post sounds very entitled. VIP members absolutely should have access to things beyond what a standard member does, as they are literally paying extra a month for that. The intention I am sure is not to isolate others or push anyone to be VIP, but rather to give those paying extra money extra benefits.. There are also a lot of the same things to do here as there was, and I’m not sure what you’re referring to when you say things are being removed. You can still dress up, explore, decorate, chat with friends, play nearly every game available on the schedule, and participate in occasional events..(all of which are accessible to everyone btw) If you are feeling isolated and excluded because you could not play a single game of Slingo that was exclusively for VIP members, that is unfortunate, but I am not sure what solution you are seeking here, unless you are just complaining to complain. The game schedule has been consistently pretty active when hosts are able to host games, and it is maybe once a month that there even is an exclusive VIP game, which btw, any host could probably add a normal game during that same time slot if available. Are there games every single time you’re available to play one? Probably not, as it is a small community with only a handful of hosts that have limited availability, but nonetheless, there is absolutely a plethora of things to do for standard members still, and new things are often added recently. If you feel you get more for your money on WOW, then by all means, why not just play that?

I have to agree with Becket…you don’t have to reconsider asking people to join…just up the account to vip … vip pays twice the amt of reg.. accounts…missing a slingo game here and there won’t hurt you.

I also at no point said the VIP members should not get benefits, just that game access should not be affected for non vip members so please don’t twist my issue.

I am sorry but I play WOW and VZones standard at the same time. You kinda get what you pay for. You pay standard and you get a standard experience. If you want a VIP one then buy a VIP account. VIP members pay a lot to keep this place open so this a way to say thank you to them. IF ANYTHING Andy has been over compensating for the standard crowd by giving us daily vendo items, hunt items to look for and letting members make their own events to contribute. You want something special? Make an event so you can fill up all them hostie slots and have games to play. You dont want to recommend the game to your friend? Cool, we dont need more people with a pessimistic attitude towards a benefit for people that is legit just an hour and is well deserved. I am tired of people complaining over fairness when VIP gets a taste of being special, if you dont like it then cancel your subscription and go to Secondlife like other people. Smh

I also used to play WOW so I know what you get there, and yes I have now recommended my friend not to sign up if our game access is being removed so I’m sure you will both be delighted. No one is twisting your issue, I am just trying to understand where you’re coming from, as your logic is not making sense to me. You do realize people that host WANT to host, right? No one is being asked to or forced to.. I personally host because I enjoy it, not because someone is making me. I am also not upset by your feelings, I just think making a post like this is just mindless complaining, especially when you’re not contributing to a solution apart from threatening to leave.. it’s one game that is for VIP members, and the way you’re speaking makes it sound like this is something you’re being excluded from regularly, when it is not even a regular occurrence. You still have access to every single game apart from the VIP games. You have not lost access to anything you already had access to.. it’s literally a single game that doesn’t even happen regularly enough to make that big of a difference, and I genuinely thing you have made this a way bigger issue than it even should be..

Who is insulting you? I am simply trying to play devils advocate here because you are complaining about something that doesn’t even seem like anything to be mad about, and you’re acting like features are being taken away from you as a paying member, which isn’t even the case here.. I am sorry that you’re upset about not being able to play a single game meant for VIP members, but I assure you what you seem to think is happening really isn’t.. I am a standard member myself with all the same benefits as you, and I just do not agree with anything you’re saying.

Firstly, you are both insulting me, so I don’t think you are genuinely trying to understand my issue, and making vague 2010 facebook style people need tough love posts on here certainly doesn’t make me believe you have honest intentions. You both seem to be looking for an argument.

I am just trying to tell you that there is other options for standard account members, in fact legit everything is for standard accept for a few perks like the VIP club, a paint club and a sling thrown here or there, but youre acting like you are owed a different experience, and throw that you wont invite your friend because you feel wronged. You did insult me Twizzler and then made a passive aggressive post. When I joined games were not VIP, and I expect that to stay the same. That’s my opinion and I’ve made my complaint over it.

I was disagreeing with what you said and was trying to provide a different perspective and shed light on some good here. However, it seems as though you are the one that just wants everyone to agree with you, and if they don’t, they are then being insulting or shutting you down. Sorry to say, but not everyone is going to agree with you, especially when you’re not really making a sound case for your argument here. I also never called you pessimistic, but do you think you are being optimistic in this moment with this post? I urge you to step back and really read what you are saying and how you have been responded to, then see if it still all appears as though you’re under attack. You are the one that made this post and invited in feedback to it, which is exactly what you got. Sorry it did not work out how you wanted it to however. I just cannot side with mindless complaining, when at the end of the day, we are all paying to be here just as much as you are, and some even more, so why not just enjoy the experience and spend more time being grateful it exists than wasting energy looking for things to be upset about?

I don’t have VIP because I’m on limited income being retired and I honestly cannot justify spending more iw when there are other things I want to be able to do in my rw. I also buy gold in order to give a “special 4-vote prize” at my Acro game. Maybe if I didn’t do that I could be VIP also. Having said that… we all know that VIP’rs do get more for their $$, but I also seem to hear a lot of whining about what they don’t seem to get. I have no issue with people getting their perks, but fgs stop acting like you don’t get enough. If I decide to host a NON-VIP Slingo Players Only game, would that be ok? I may be wrong, but I think that’s the point Elamani is trying to make…. segregation much? I agree…. if there were no games on the schedule, with Andy being the head honcho, I would like to see him making a good leader’s move by hosting impromptu for EVERYONE (as he has done before), not just SOME. Did anyone suggest “Hey, Andy, can we have a game on the street so that everyone can play, so that our friends can play also?” or were you just happy as clams to feel special again? Sorry if this offends anyone, but I’m a Libra and we like balance, plus I’ve been an advocate for equality and fairness since forever, so I just have to toss this out there as a consideration. Just think for a moment how actions can make others feel EXcluded, rather than INcluded.

I don’t expect people to agree with me, I also don’t expect to be attacked for having an opinion, I have no issues that you feel differently. That’s the thing though, there IS going to be separation because there are people on a standard account and those who pay extra to have VIP.. the ones paying more are obviously going to have a few extra perks and nothing is wrong with that.. I just am failing to see how one game here and there targeted towards VIP members is taking away from what standard members have, because again, I am certain someone could absolutely host a regular game during that time for those not on VIP, and boom, problem solved.

My issue is there was not originally a separation on games when I joined, this is a recent development and it’s encroaching on what basic members are paying for and excluding us. Next it could be more games that are VIP, then it might be the whole of the prize market.

To be clear, I said this post and your comments sounded entitled. Which the definition of said word is “believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.” To recap and back that up, you made this entire post about how you are not impressed by VIP Slingo, and made the claim that members are being excluded from games, which implies that you feel you should also have access to a game that is specifically for those who pay extra to participate in said game. Is this not fitting to what the word entitled actually means? You are voicing concern and disappointment over not being able to play a single game that comes up maybe once a month and took up 1 single hour on the calendar. You also for some reason feel as though features you are paying for are being taken away, but being a standard member myself, I just am not seeing that at all, hence my comments providing support to my claims offering a different perspective. I don’t agree expecting what I was originally paying for, to continue to be what I am paying for is entitled. I don’t want special treatment – quite the opposite in fact, I believe all games should be available for everyone as was the case when I joined.

I made this post to state my issues, I see many members doing the same when they have an issue with something changing in world, mostly VIP’s, sorry if I was expected to stay quiet.

I do not consider this a minor issue. If things continue like this more and more things could be inaccessible to non-VIP members, I prefer to say something at the start of that possible trajectory than wait. I am having a great day, I hope you are too.

Again though Ela, ALL games are still accessible to you, and nothing has actually been taken away from you or any other standard members. There are also new things added regularly that all members have access to, but I guess that is easily overlooked when you are only focusing on what you don’t have access to. You are also free to post whatever you want about whatever you want, but when you post something like this on a public platform it seems as though the goal of your post was to recruit others to agree with you and cause an uproar over this, when you could have just messaged your concerns to the person who runs this game directly. Otherwise, making claims like you are just looks like unnecessary drama to stir the pot. I feel as though you have blown 1 single slingo game you couldn’t play into this huge issue that it isn’t, and unfortunately when it comes to life in and out of world, things generally are never “fair.” It seems as though you just want to be right though, and if you want to choose to feel personally victimized and offended over something so small, then by all means, carry on. I clearly have wasted my energy here trying to provide a different perspective and some optimism. Things are not as bad here as you seem to think they are, but I am sorry you are having trouble seeing this. If it were affecting me that much, I would simply stop funding it. I highly doubt everything IW will transition to being VIP-only, and to even put that out there for others to worry about is silly.

This discussion came up a few years ago. The point I made then and I am making now is that this whole issue stems from the two-tier membership structure (a hierarchical “class” structure if you will).

In old DS, *without* that distinction, we were “family” – all on the same playing field. Ask anyone who was around in those days.

The new DS with VIP and Standard memberships turns us into clientele – paying customers – “you get what you pay for”; and the sense of “family” is gone (no matter how many “sissies” and “bros” there are floating around) :). Peace out.

Except not all games are accessible now, hence the entire point of my post. I love your optimistism but I don’t like segregation. I made one complaint about it, but others have blown this out of proportion. Lets hope my concern is silly.
