Last month, our hosting provider experienced an outage that caused the vzones.com website to be offline for several hours. While this was inconvenient, the bigger issue was that players rely on the game schedule, often checking it hourly.

To address this, we’ve taken the following steps:

Redundancy:
We have now added automatic failover protection. If the website becomes unavailable, traffic will roll over to a backup hosting provider within 60 seconds.

Schedule Backup:
The backup site includes a cloned version of the schedule, updated every 24 hours. In the unlikely event that recent updates are missing, hosts can manually apply any schedule changes. Once the main server is back online, the system automatically switches back.

Monitoring:
If the website is online but not functioning correctly, our monitoring system will alert us within one minute. We can then either resolve the issue directly or activate the backup server and schedule.

Bottom line:
With these improvements, the game schedule will never be unavailable for more than a few minutes, even in the case of a major outage or technical problem.

Following feedback from the July members’ meeting, all turf managers will now accept advance rent payments of up to 12 months, instead of the previous 30 day limit.
