The Slingo Club: The Game of Time Zones and Treachery
Wednesday. Noon in the UK.
For most people, noon meant lunch breaks or sluggish work hours. But in this corner of the universe, it was morning, no matter what the clocks said. Coffee was flowing. Blankets were wrapped. And the glow of the Slingo screen flickered to life.
Well—morning for everyone except DD. DD, sitting comfortably at 8 PM, had officially entered his evening villain arc.
Emm, ever the steady host, clicked into the lobby. “Alright, degenerates. Ready for chaos?”
DD stretched, cracking his knuckles. “Finally. My brain is working at full capacity.”
KaybeeKat narrowed her eyes. “That makes you more dangerous.”
Anitapepsi smirked. “Or just more annoying.”
Pezkandy yawned, pulling her blanket tighter. “Winning just means you have to stay and play again.”
Gemmy stirred her tea. “And surviving the score bullies? That’s a whole different game.”
Emm sighed. “Alright, Slingo warriors. Let’s roll.”Round One: The Thieves Strike
The numbers started flashing. Energy picked up. But lurking within the game’s mechanics—like some cruel twist of fate—were the infamous Slingo bullies.
They weren’t players. They were merciless thieves, appearing at the worst possible moment to slice scores in half.
DD racked up points with ease, practically glowing with confidence.
“Behold,” he declared. “I am unstoppable.”
Then—a bully struck.
Half his score? Gone.
DD froze, staring in horror. “I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING.”
Anitapepsi laughed. “Ah, the sweet taste of Slingo karma.”
KaybeeKat shook her head. “I hate them.”
Gemmy watched in eerie calm. “The key is acceptance.”
Pezkandy sighed. “And a deep tolerance for suffering.”
Emm grinned. “You all knew what you signed up for.”Round Two: The Midnight Strategist
While everyone kept falling victim to the Slingo bullies, DD’s evening instincts kicked in.
No longer playing aggressively, he adjusted his strategy. Watching the numbers. Anticipating the stealers. Dodging the sabotage.
Then—miraculously—he landed a clean Slingo without losing points.
DD smirked. “I have transcended.”
KaybeeKat groaned. “He thinks he’s invincible.”
Anitapepsi eyed him suspiciously. “I smell betrayal coming.”
Gemmy sipped her tea. “All victories are temporary.”
Pezkandy stretched lazily. “Wake me when things get messy.”
Round Three: The Great Collapse
As predicted—DD’s streak didn’t last.
A bully struck him down, wiping out another chunk of his score.
This time, there was no comeback. No tricks. Just pure, unfiltered suffering.

The Underground Bar was more than a hideaway—it was a proving ground. Smoke curled through the air, thick as secrets, while glasses clinked in muted conversation. No one came here to lose.
The dealer moved with the practiced ease of a man who’d seen it all. From the velvet pouch, he handed out marbles—reds for fortune, blues for setbacks, greens for second chances. Blacks? Dead weight. No good to anyone. And then there were the bullies—spheres as dull as their purpose, handed out with the same randomness as any other draw. No one wanted a bully, but sometimes fate didn’t care what you wanted.
The goal was simple: five marbles in a row. Straight, diagonal—didn’t matter. What mattered was getting there before the game got you. Marilyn leaned over the table, fingers tracing her lineup, eyeing the board with the quiet calculation of a gambler on the brink. Elvis flicked his eyes toward his marbles, then toward the competition—watching, waiting. The writer, his fingers wrapped around his drink, stared at the bully in front of him like it had just insulted his mother.
A player reached for their next marble, only to find their path blocked—a bully standing in their way, costing them a turn. The room rumbled in response, low murmurs, a few hushed curses. No one liked a bully, but no one could escape them either. The game rolled on, tension mounting with each move, each draw.
In the Underground Bar, winning wasn’t just luck. It was survival. And tonight, the marbles had their own agenda. It was gonna be a long night…
