Hosting An Event
As soon as you have an idea/suggestion for an event, make a post in the Host Forum titled “Event Request” and tag @Cosmic Andy in the body of the post to let him know you are interested in hosting an event. After the event request thread has been posted you can then complete this form in your own time.
1. Give yourself (and staff) at least a month of planning time before the event.
2. Have a general theme for your event (ie: Baseball, Harry Potter, Pizza Party, Back to School, etc)
3. Begin formulating ideas that would make your event exciting for members, remember, it’s not just about what you would like, but it should appeal to a broad range of others.
4. Start making a list of items that you think would make good prizes to go with your theme. There is a form below to help with this.
5. Consider adding a hunt, quest and/or a costume contest to your event. Be creative and make a suggestion if you have an idea for something different.
6. Be sure to have back up ideas, not everything will be automatically approved, so it’s best to over plan just in case.
7. Be organized and try to send as much information clearly, include pictures and additional information to help Andy and staff to understand your vision.
8. Make sure you get a formal approval from Andy regarding your theme and dates of your event before you continue forward with this form.
9. All builds must be completed inside a turf which staff will then copy for the live event. If you need help with building it's a great time to reach out to other members who can do it for you. Staff can fine tweak the build when it's nearly finished.
10. Events can run from 1 to 7 days but require a new set of gaming areas every 2 days for events longer than 2 days.
As the event organizer, you will be the contact person reaching out to hosts and answering questions. Help to build excitement and anticipation by promoting your event, once approved, by mentioning it at games, posting in forums and sending messages to hosts.
Hosts will be required to update scheduled games to the event area to qualify for event prizes.
You will need to check prizes over once they are created. Make sure wearables fit correctly. Rotate items to make sure they look right from all sides. Double-check color codes. Check chests open and close, and if they have a key, check locking ability. Double-check names and the spelling.
