Can We Say A Word About Broadcast Messages?

So, right smack in the middle of my SCHEDULED Acro game, there was an announcement about a “practice” game being held at NH entrance. Not only did I find it annoying as a host, but players made comments that they weren’t happy about the disruption as well. I was always under the impression that “practice” games were held in turfs to begin with. Secondly, if we shouldn’t be walking into a game locale to announce another game being held, why can an announcement be used to announce another game? Why are announcements allowed in the middle of scheduled games for an impromptu? Some people who host are allowed to make broadcasts but others are not……… seems a bit unfair. I spend about ten minutes before my game sending ESPMAILS to my regular players as a reminder because no one is available to make a broadcast reminder. And, lastly………………. unless someone uses their actual name making the announcement <aside from Polly using an alias>, there is no way of knowing who sent the post. Can there be some clear rules regarding this please? TY

Can’t the broadcasts be sent during the first ten minutes of the hour when games are not being played yet? It is very disturbing to have game interruptions and some games last from ten after and up to the following hour.

I get on average 50 complaints a month about broadcasts. It’s on the roadmap for the future to have a setting in the client to toggle on/off. The broadcast system is complex and a major security risk which is why we have very strict control and access to it. I will simply remove all access and stop broadcasts if it becomes a problem.

I am happy if all hosts want to jump on this thread and agree some rules as and when game broadcasts can go out. They can then be agreed to with all hosts.

If it becomes a problem…lol… Number one… how and why are you, whoever you are, posting on Toms acct? Tom clearly didn’t write that. That in itself is very concerning to me. Secondly… this broadcast issue has been talked about manyyy times and proof of that is how many complaints you (Andy) get? Any…”… (you) will remove all access and stop broadcasts if it becomes a problem.”?? All those complaints monthly and its came up once AGAIN by a host and you’re still waiting to see if it becomes a problem? The broadcasts and what the broadcasts are about aren’t the issue, much… its WHEN the broadcasts are announced. During a game is rude and inconsiderate. Some of these games take a lot of thought and concentration, especially annoying with the audible noise associated with the alert. Why does this even need discussed… its very clear that theres a problem with when the broadcasts are applied so its either you (Andy) or whoever else you gave access to… its YOU who should make the rule that no broadcast messages during gaming hours. We all know most games are over at 10 to 5 til the hour and most games dont start til 10 after the hour so during that time is optimal for world messages, whatever they may be. Im glad to hear that you are considering a toggle for those alerts… the audible noise is not only a pain in the ass while in vz but its also a pain in the ears when working on other things on the pc… like working on docs., in meetings, listening to music, etc… especially with earbuds in… the broadcast alerts actually hurts… and when said broadcasts are applied, it brings a vz window to the front or top… with all that said and until a new updated client comes out… its really simple, to me… once again, dont do a broadcast message during a game…please.

It’s an easy fix (to me)… Andy, you’re the boss… but plz dont do it within game time (if theres a scheduled game)… and whoever else has access to do broadcast messages… plz dont do it.

CAN someone tell me who has the power to send a broadcast?? i dont know who to ask.

Some games dont end 10 minutes before the hour and some run a little over. That is not complaint just an experience. The best time to broadcast is in the first ten minutes of the game hour.
