I thought this was supposed to be talked about at the next monthly meeting. I’m tired and stressed so if i say something mean i apologize in advance.

This was going to be my suggestion. Could we have a event prize room in the Host rewards locale.? None of us actually needs more than one set of event prizes. So it would be limited to 1 per host. No matter how many games they host. And i would suggest that it be put in after the event. maybe a week after. That wouldn’t stop hosts from playing games. Its like a carrot in front of the donkey.

An event prize set has always been given to the person organizing an event due to the amount of work they put into it. In that regard, it used to be that hosts didn’t usually play to win and taking the chance of winning a prize from others as they were already getting a set. Even now, I’m either too tired to play from the organizing work, busy answering questions from players or hosts, subbing or adding a game to fill the schedule anyway. If I DO play during an event I organized, I will tell the host I’m just playing for fun and pass on prizes OR let them know I’m playing to help win a prize for someone else. Sorry for the lengthy answer, but I’m not fond of a whole set of event prizes being available to all hosts as it doesn’t make it special for someone to takes on the work of organizing an event <which usually takes weeks to complete>.

Thats is very understandable. I appreciate your answer. So back to the drawing board.

What should hosts get for each of the games they host? RIght now, we are getting one game box of vouchers for each game. I would like to use them to purchase prizes. I wish they could be available to us after the event. Each of us received a little Halloween bag for hosting. That was sweet.

Is it maybe an idea that there would come an extra event prize voucher to be added in event prizeboxes that can be used to get 1 event prize/dp out of an special event vendo/event shop or to be saved to be used later ?

OH, I forgot to add… hosts usually get a special item just for them for hosting events. Everyone got the birdbath chest when I did the Fern Hunter event, the gold sheep when I did Indiana Zones event, the eagle chest for the Springtime in the Rockies event, the lil monster for the Fern Day event, etc Those are limited to hosts, which makes it special.

@Gia I’m in the Jackass club! I didn’t play any Halloween games hardly because it stressed me out. There wasn’t that much that i truly wanted but not in a day when i am hosting or real world or not being able to log in ugh.

@Gia the meeting was okay to discuss this but you walked out before you had chance to read my reply.

The issue with allowing prize purchases is that it opens the system to potential abuse. While 99.9% of current members would never take advantage of it, it still creates an opportunity for exploitation especially by new members. It’s similar to someone hosting for just one hour a month yet gaining full access to the prize mart.

A while back, I suggested tying rewards to the number of games hosted, but that could cause some backlash from those who host less frequently. The best idea so far seems to be the host-only voucher option where a host can select one prize from an event, with no rollover of unused vouchers.

Personally, I like the idea of combining this with what XieToo suggested: allowing hosts to earn prizes the regular way, either by playing when they’re not hosting or through trades with members or shops. Since prizes are generally in surplus, they could also be obtained through IW trades especially if hosts had some exclusive host-only prizes to trade with.

I just want to add that some hosts host A LOT, including Gia………… and believe me, that is very much appreciated by players and event hosts alike!! I don’t want to minimize the effort put in from that angle because it does mean that by helping others you aren’t able to play for prizes yourself. My question is…….. how do we encourage others to participate by hosting games? I know some people that would be willing to host a game randomly but cannot commit the time to hosting weekly, nor do they necessarily want/need to be part of the regular host forum. Maybe call them “Mini-Hosters”… I know I’ve mentioned before about hosts mentoring/sponsoring others in order to teach them about hosting.

For instance, say Penny decides she would like to host a game at an event…….. she could be sponsored by a regular host that would make sure she knows how to run the program and overseeing a couple of test runs in a turf to make sure all runs smoothly. If all goes well, regular host can post in our forum that they will sponsor her to host _________<game> at the ______________ <event name>. The obligation would also be that if the sponsored host for the event were a no-show, the sponsor would host in their place. The sponsored host would be limited to hosting ONE game per day during the event. This way, they get to contribute to hosting <maybe even something different>, not obligated to host weekly to be able to host at an event, and sponsored by another host who would get the event prizes to them. This would be a ONE-time sponsorship meaning that the regular host would submit that they would like to sponsor someone to host at an individual event, not all events.

Any thoughts? Just trying to think of ways to encourage others to contribute without major commitment.

so what’s the idea here? making event prizes avail. to all hosts whether they host in an event or not? No, Im not fond of that idea… I may be reading this wrong too so there’s that.

SCRATCH that IDEA!!! TY for pointing it out. I wish there wasa way for the person who is sponsoring the event to send a complete set to each event host. Just one set. No matter how many they host. Maybe that would entice more players to learn to host games! And not send they out until the next month. lol

But, again, the prize set is given to the organizer for doing all that work and a special item is given to each host no matter if they host one game or ten as a thank you.

you are perfectly right. the organizer should get more than a prize set! COULD we ask @CosmicAndy to reward organizers with GOLD in addition to the Prize set? Maybe we would have more members hosting games and organizing events

There’s no easy solution here, as some people want to give all prizes to hosts while others strongly disagree. I’m very mindful of avoiding a situation like what happened with vouchers where prizes became meaningless because anyone who hosted a single game could obtain them all for free.

While no final decision has been made, XieToo raised a solid point: hosts can still participate in games during events when they’re not actively hosting, and they can also buy or trade prizes with other members or acquire them through the auction. If a host were running games for 24 hours straight, it would be a different story but outside of their hosting shifts, they have the same opportunities to win prizes as everyone else.

The idea of providing hosts with separate, host only, event themed items is a much stronger and more sustainable approach.

@Gia I’ve explained a few times that offering gold as compensation would quickly create a surplus that would harm VZones financial viability. This cannot happen if we want to protect the stability and longevity of VZones.

We are currently burning around 1200V per week. If we continue at this rate we would get to a point where host voucher rewards are valued more and less of a need for additional host rewards.

@XieToo and @CosmicAndy I liked @MrsM suggestion for a special vendo for hosts. BUT It would have to be put in at least 2 weeks after the event is over. There was an issue before when we let members get them soon after the event. It cut down on players. That was when they were offered to all members in the voucher rewards locale. I would put them in the host rewards locale.

yes. Gold is a bad idea. I understand the issue now. I left the Q and A because I am not well and it was the wrong time and place for me to bring it up.

I wonder if a Paint voucher can be an added prize for the EVENT Organizer.

Now i will go back to bed.

Hosting has become a JOB. That is why I am on break. Vacation. I need to worry more about the time I should be taking my medications in stead of what time is my next game.

Forgive me if i am not making sense. I love you all dearly.I only wish that the hosting was something everyone would want to do. And I thought that proper rewards might be the way to entice them.

I am suggesting the following solution to this issue and will decide on Wednesday. Open to feedback….

    Weekly Host Reward Voucher Room

We introduce a weekly reward voucher prize room for hosts, featuring a selection of higher value ticket items that can be redeemed using vouchers. The goal of this system is to reward hosts who run more games by giving them access to better rewards, while still remaining fair and supportive of hosts who only run a single slot.

    Official Event Participation Rewards

During official events, any host who runs games in the designated event area will receive one Event Host Box. Each box contains a variety of rewards themed around that specific event. There is no overall cap on distribution; each host receives one box per event, regardless of event duration or the number of games hosted. This box serves purely as a participation reward.

    Themed Prize Day Participation Rewards

For single day Themed Prize Day events, hosts will receive a participation reward similar to the Event Host Box in #2, but simplified to a single themed item. Each host receives one themed item per Prize Day event, regardless of the number of games hosted. This ensures recognition for participation while keeping rewards balanced for shorter events.
