Meeting with Andy Jan 11, 2021

Here is an edited version of the meeting. No text has been changed, but the first part is only Andy’s remarks, and in the question and answer section we attempted to match q’s with a’s LOL. The full transcript follows the q&a section.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: I wont keep you long just a few topics then I’ll answer anything you guys want.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Okay guys 4pm so i will get started
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: First up to go the recent crashing.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Sadly its partly out of our control while we work on a few things to stop it.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: For a lot of 2020 we have been developing a new system which we hope to release soon which is the VZ Connection Client
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: This basically means that VZones will run on a private network that the outside world (none members) wont be able to see.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Which solves a lot of our problems right away.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We are aiming for 1 – 2 months to get this released but we may do some testing with you guys next week depending how far we get.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: The warps are painful I know.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Not the level of service we want to offer at all.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We pushed out a patch today which does not solve the original attack problem but it does hopefully stop the database problem that happens from it.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: So if the same style attack happens again rather than crash you’ll get the world is shutting down message right away.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: So its a no warning shutdown to protect the database.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We have added extra logging to help pinpoint where we need to fix.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Which moves us onto the next issue.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: When this problem happens we could repair the database and no need to restore from backup.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: However due to the amount of data we have it would take too long with the world being offline.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We are a world of hoarders

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: So the big question is how can we get people to clear out junk they do not want or need.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Higher pawn value could work but we need to be clearing stuff from inside the turfs only.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: For example of how bad it can be we had a member who had over 14,000 paint cans

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: so we lock you into the turf building for a weekend
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: with higher rated pawn machine
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: and let you clear out what you do not want
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Could be a side award for joining in to help clear out

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We are working on fixing the software & the VZ Connection Client to put an end to it.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: The clearing junk is to help make restarts and scanning the database faster.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: The person is only causing crashing/problems IW.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: I cant discuss details about the person but yes they are known to the worlds.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We aim to reply to tickets the same day.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: So moving on to the last part with some more happy updates.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: NH shopping area will be getting an update later this week.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: So you will see some construction work around that way this week.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Pets are in progress and the art is about 30% done now.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Surfside 2 buildings will be shutting down and making way for the new Kymer Beach Club
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: This will be a new party hot spot with space for hosting and radio shows.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: March 1st we will see some updates for hosts including a new reward area inside the PM for hosts only.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Pans will also be included in hosting rewards.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Yeah we have places that do not get used which is why 2 buildings near the beach are getting taken down and a new club that will be used.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: SC party store will be opening.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: WorldsAway creators building is being updated so you can rent 1,3 & 10 plan blank turfs
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Which you can then use to build stuff which becomes public after 30 days.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Rent is paid on it until the day it’s opened for all to access.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Turfs can be joined together via a small fee. So for example if you wanted to build your own world you could rent multiple 10 plan turfs.

Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We still have nearly 1400 turfs where rent has not been paid since 2018. So this is still slow and in progress.

Nodnarb: I’d like to see SC see more visitors, would it be possible to add a teleporter pad outside of TST (or in the lobby) just like the pads in Variations?

Morning Glory: We NEED BLANK 10 room turfs to rent for ourselves
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: 10 room turfs will return once we get all turfs updated on the rents or closed off if members dont want them.

DustyBritches: why can’t i access London and other sites
DustyBritches: via the boat?
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: We are updating the boat & airport connections this week….should be done by Friday. The airport in SC will allow you to travel any location you have a ticket.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: The boat will allow you to travel to special places only with a valid ticket.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Travel Tickets are needed mainly for fun, story line and role play as part of the quests. This is being updated this week.

LowRider: one big issue i would like to see solved is… take out the 3 min poofing and put it back like it used to be with almost imediately poofing so the person can get back in world faster to continue to play games or host.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: 3 min poofing can be done yea few people asked. If you post that on the ideas site I will get it done this week hopefully.

Pammie: can a vip turf be traded in for a different one?
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: VIP turf once set cant be changed currently no sorry.

Jippo: since we moved to this 4.7b version I noticed a very important to store owners item is missing suddenly?The Precision Turf Mover located under tool bar does now NOT have the “use last” option! I used that daily to move multiple items at once.
Acolyte Cosmic Andy: Use last option in 4.7b thanks we will look into it.

Nodnarb: So for clearing out stuff… is the game plan to ask people to use the 100% pawn for now?
