To request a name change, simply contact a staff member and let them know which avatar name on the ticket needs to be updated. 📢 Creators Meeting Summary – 2026 Art Direction & Payments

Purpose: Clarify art usage, revisions, quality goals, and payment process going into 2026

🖼️ 1. Annual Art Revisions (2026 Direction)

• VZones would like to move toward yearly revisions of existing art rather than one-off items.

• This mainly applies to:

  • Basic / knick-knack items

  • Core props (containers, animals like bear/fox/fuzzie, etc.)

• Only art VZones owns the rights to can be revised.

• Original artists should revise their own work whenever possible.

• If an artist is unavailable or unwilling, a revised version may be created by VZones, but Andy stated this should be rare.

✅ Important reassurance:
Artist-created art will not be altered by others without permission.

🎨 2. VZones Original vs Artist Art

• VZones-original art (no artist code):

  • Anyone may revise or update it.

• Artist-created art:

  • Only the original artist may revise or tweak it.

• Older art without artist codes may be modernized (e.g., made paintable).

⭐ 3. Quality Over Quantity (Key 2026 Goal)

Rather than many single-use seasonal items, the aim is to focus on:

• 1 high-quality base item

• Re-released throughout the year with themed tweaks:

  • Halloween

  • Christmas

  • Easter

  • Yearly updates

Benefits:

• Better usability

• Less clutter

• More longevity

• More earning potential for artists

🎭 4. Paintability & Older Art

• Older non-paintable VZones art can be reworked to be paintable.

• This is allowed and already being done by some artists.

🧩 5. Purchased Pixel Assets

• Artists may use licensed external pixel assets (e.g., purchased sprite packs),
  provided:

  • Licensing allows it

  • The art is converted into VZones-ready, paintable items

🧾 6. Art Ownership & Legacy Work

• VZones should only use art it owns the rights to.

• Some legacy art (e.g. HM, Peach, MMC) is not owned and should not be reused.

• Polly/Pye are the authority on ownership questions.

• Artists with older work still in use should contact Polly directly.

💰 7. Payment & Invoicing (Important)

• Artists do not need to wait for sales data.

• Once art is:

  • Approved

  • Processed
    → You may invoice immediately.

• Payment is per item, not per sale.

• Some artists have not yet received the rate card.

A clear rate card will be sent to all artists this week so pricing is transparent.

🎉 8. Event Art Clarification

• Event art rules caused some confusion.

• Andy’s intent is that artists should be able to:

  • Create full themed sets (clothing, accessories, seats, hair, etc.)

  • Earn from those sets
